  1. The attached article appeared in the Stony Plain Reporter on August 22. I have an original copy which Clarke and Tracey are welcome to if they don't already have one. 3. When, why, and to where are you moving?
  4. Leger Marketing referred to the "new hybrid trolley", so when people said they preferred the hybrid, it was the trolley they were thinking of.
  5. Doug Cowan mentioned he saw 202 travelling downtown on 101 Street yesterday, and wondered what was up.
  6. I didn't see any trolleys in service this morning, but did see 195 on driver training.
  7. Nice new avatar, Captain. What's the number of that coach?
  8. The last we heard, there were still 5 of the Edmonton Flyers running in Mexico City. Considering they are 34 or 35 years old, I'd say they lasted quite well.
  9. That fellow and Dennis both need haircuts.
  10. I'm pretty sure that I don't have it. It did mention that Don normally drove days, but that he signed up for this special late night run. It also mentioned that he preferred driving trolleys.
  11. On at least one occasion several years ago, trolleys were out for the free overnight service on New Year's Eve. There was an article in the Journal, with a picture, about Don driving a trolley on the route 9 overnight service.
  12. Just before 9:00 p.m. last night I saw an Epcor truck working on the overhead at one of our new favorite spots - 107 Avenue just west of Groat Road. 198 was sitting there, 2 lanes over from the overhead, with poles down and emergency flashers on. The left pole was bent almost double. I didn't stop to take a close look at what the damage to the overhead consisted of.
  13. Yes, that's the one. I have a copy of it. Where are you mentioned?
  14. It's my understanding that 202 is being sent to Mississauga to have the floor rebuilt. All three historic trolleys will run if hooked up to overhead. 148 has more serious structural problems, and 113 has brake problems and a possible electrical short.
  15. I fear that 6000 will be gone before 202 is ready to go.
  16. Ewald Wolfram drove Brill 202 on a 1979 fan charter. Also out that day were Brill 191, driven by Don Clark; and Pullman 113, driven by Bill Maclean.
  17. I saw two diseasels on the 135 as well. They must have been trying to make up for Saturday, when someone sent trolleys out in error.
  18. We've had season tickets to Mayfield Dinner Theatre for many years and keep renewing each year. It was our gift to each other for our 30th anniversary, and we just had #38 in July!
  19. That would work. Or, if the Captain is still able to get tickets for myself and Mrs. Brill on Thursday's historic tour, I can bring it then.
  20. I have the Global, CBC, and CTV stories on a DVD.
  21. Thanks for sharing the pictures, Mike. I caught the television coverage on Global, CBC, and CTV. As already noted, Global said that the BBCs were purchased in 1975, then later in the same report said that the entire trolley fleet was purchased in 1983. Neither date is correct. CBC said that the new hybrid bus "runs exclusively on electrical battery power". CTV had the shortest television coverage of the three. I saw fleeting glimpses of four participants from this board in the TV coverage. Anyone see what, if anything, was aired on City TV? Anyone catch any radio coverage?
  22. Don C. drove a Brill trolley along the express wires during a fan trip a number of years ago. That may well be the only time the express wires were ever used.
  23. There are ongoing problems at that location. Just a few days ago there were two bent clips there and a slow order was issued. This has been going on for years, yet EPCOR insists there is no problem there.
  24. I printed one of your "There's a new trolley in town" banners, but only 11 inches wide. I don't know what size is needed for the streetcars; Bob or James should be able to give you that information. What do you have in the window of your car?
