Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Bladensburg Garage
Bladensburg (Depot Code: B) is one of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's 9 depots. This garage handles routes in Northeast and Southeast Washington D.C. with a few routes running into Prince George's County and Montgomery County Maryland. This garage is an all CNG garage and formally served as the overhaul, rehabilitation, and heavy maintenance facility.
In 2019, WMATA proposed to rehab Bladensburg garage beginning in 2020. New plans include additional capacity for articulated buses, and charging ports for electric vehicles. Subsequently the plan was approved by 2020 and construction began in 2021.[1] In June 2021, a temporary lot was opened for buses on Bladensburg Road NE & Montana Avenue NE in order to make room for construction.
