The Mississauga Transitway is a dedicated bus way in the city of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is an 18-kilometre, two-lane, grade-separated road that stretches from Winston Churchill Boulevard to Renforth Drive and features 12 stations that provide connections to other routes and transit systems. The transitway is served by Mississauga Transit, Brampton Transit, GO Transit, and the Toronto Transit Commission.

The corridor is divided into an East and West segment connected by Highway 403 between Erin Mills Parkway and the City Centre Transit Terminal. The West segment runs 1.5 kilometres along on the north side of Highway 403. GO Transit is responsible for the design and construction of this segment. The East segment runs from the City Centre Transit Terminal to Renforth Drive. The City of Mississauga is responsible for the construction of this segment with GO Transit being responsible for the regional transit hub at Renforth Drive.

History

The Mississauga Transitway project was estimated to cost $259 million and was jointly funded by the City of Mississauga, the federal government, and the Government of Ontario as part of its MoveOntario2020 plan. The transitway was designed by architect IBI Group and construction was divided between Metrolinx and the City of Mississauga. The City of Mississauga was responsible for constructing the stations between City Centre Transit Terminal and Orbitor and Metrolinx was responsible for the section west of City Centre Transit Terminal, which runs parallel to Highway 403, to Winston Churchill, and Renforth Station in the eastern end. Construction on the first phase of the Mississauga Transitway between City Centre Transit Terminal and Dixie Road began on November 29, 2011 with an official launch ceremony.

The first phase of the Mississauga Transitway was officially opened on November 10, 2014. An open house was held on November 15, 2014 where the public was invited to visit the stations and free shuttle buses ran between City Centre Terminal and Dixie Road. Buses on route 107, 109, and 21 transitioned into using the transitway starting November 17, 2014.

The second phase of the project was scheduled to be completed in 2016, however, due to issues with utility relocations and the bankruptcy of a contractor, the full opening was delayed to Spring 2017. After further delays, the transitway was fully completed with the opening of Renforth Station to the public on November 22, 2017.
