Jackie Gleason Depot (Depot Code: JG) is one of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's 30 depots. Like many bus depots, it originally housed streetcars, up until 1940. In 1944, it was converted into a bus garage, named the Fifth Avenue Depot. The garage was rebuilt in the 1980s and reopened on September 6th, 1984, and was renamed the Jackie Gleason Depot on June 30th, 1988, to honor the actor famous for his portrayal of a New York City bus driver, Ralph Kramden, in "The Honeymooners". In 1992, it became the first NYCTA depot to house CNG buses and have a CNG fueling facility. Jackie Gleason became the first and only depot to exclusively house CNG buses, although they still have the ability to house diesel buses (Namely, the RTS Metrocard buses). The depot is operated by the New York City Transportation Authority.
