History
The Metropolitan Council awarded a contract to MCI in early 2009 for 26 coach buses, 13 of which are expansion coaches to be used as part of the agency's Urban Partnership Agreement with the Federal Transit Administration, 13 of which would replace existing 40-footers.[1][2]
All buses in the fleet were pulled from service in March 2020, at the dawn of the COVID-19 pandemic. Buses briefly returned to service in 2021 before being pulled from service again.
