Metro Transit (Minnesota) 8012 is a 2016 Gillig BRTPlus 40' bus. This bus was purchased as part of an option exercised by the Metropolitan Council in July 2016 to provide an extra spare bus for the A Line.[1] When in service, the bus operates exclusively on the A Line. The bus is virtually identical to those in the 8000 series.

In 2018, this bus was retrofitted with an ArowGuard operator barrier in response to operator safety concerns.

History

Metro Transit opened the A Line in June 2016. The A Line is the first rapid bus line in the Twin Cities. Metro Transit planned to operate the route with 10 buses and 2 spares, however, the agency decided to purchase an extra bus to ensure consistency in maintenance and reliability. The option was exercised by the Metropolitan Council in July 2016.

8012 entered service in 2017.
