The Optare Tempo is an integral low floor single deck city bus. It uses a stainless steel frame with fibreglass and aluminum body panels. The Tempo was redesigned in 2011 and became known as the Tempo SR.
A diesel-electric hybrid version of the Tempo was launched in 2008 at the Euro Bus Expo. The Transport for London specification bus on display was the first production hybrid from Optare. It uses Allison's parallel hybrid system with nickle metal hydride batteries and a dual power inverter module mounted on the roof.[1]
