Ottawa-Carleton Regional Transit Commission routes 200-299
Rural express, shopper specials & Stittsville express routes. As of July 1, 2012, the Rural Express fare has been eliminated and therefore the rural express routes are now regular express routes but since they service Rural Transit Area A, they will still be listed as Rural Express routes. Stittsville is still an exemption however since Stittsville is now included in the Urban Transit Area so the routes will remain in their own category.
If you live in the City of Ottawa, you pay a Transit Levy on your tax bill even if there is no routes near you as you either live in the Rural Transit Area A or B, or the Urban Transit Area. Rural Transit Area A is a tax area where if you live in it, you pay the transit levy for the rural express routes in your tax bill as well as Para Transpo and Park & Rides. Rural Transit Area B is a tax area which if you live in it, you just pay the transit levy for the Park & Rides and Para Transpo, even if you don't use either.
The areas that are included in Rural Transit Area A are:
- Eastern half of the former Rideau Township
- Former Goulbourn Township (excluding Stittsville which is included in the Urban Transit Area)
- Former City of Cumberland
- Rural section of the former City of Nepean
- Rural section of the former City of Gloucester
- Rural section of the former City of Kanata
Rural Transit Area B consists of:
- Western half of the former Rideau Township
- Former Osgoode Township
- Former West Carleton Township
