Ottawa-Carleton Regional Transit Commission Nepean Woods Station
Nepean Woods
|
Nepean Woods Station (formerly Woodroffe Station, originally Chapman Mills Park & Ride) is located on the southeast corner of Strandherd and Woodroffe. Currently the station only has a bus platform. It was planned to feature a massive Park & Ride, however there are now zoning bylaw amendment signs that state the land will be developed as a commercial retail plaza. It is only serviced by Route 94.
Nepean Woods was closed even though according to the OC's station layout it stated that Nepean Woods was open, but the physical station said otherwise. It previously lacked stop flags, shelters, and anything to even say it was a bus stop. It originally used only to turn around the route 94. Actual pickup occurred outside of the station on Woodroffe.
As of April 21, 2013, the station is now open for passenger use. The name "Nepean Woods" comes from the parkland immediately southeast of the station. This would be the first time that a OC Transpo station has been named after a park (since previously all stations were named after a nearby cross-street/nearby street in general or a shopping mall/institution).
This station was supposed to be part of the North-South LRT route before it was cancelled.
