Mountain Metropolitan Transit 1685-1694 are 1994 Gillig Phantoms. They are 35 feet long and have a seating capacity of 37. The powertrain consisted of the Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine and ZF 4-HP590C transmission.

Unlike the earlier orders of Gillig Phantoms, they were ordered with the wheelchair lift in the front door, allowing fewer delays while loading and unloading wheelchair passengers. These buses were the first ones in the fleet to have a 102 inch width. Also, these buses (except 1685) had dual headlights instead of quad headlights.

Only the last two digits were visible on the fleet number on the buses. For example, 1689 would be numbered 89. It is unknown why the fleet numbers were done this way.

Just like the newer buses, they were painted into the new livery after the name change in 2005.

The massive service cuts made in 2009 meant that the buses in this fleet were parked, along with most of the 1999 Phantoms. They were retired and sold by March of that year.
