BC Transit 1020-1044 are New Flyer XN40 built in late 2013 and delivered in early 2014.[1]
While often advertised as the first CNG buses in the BC Transit fleet, CNG-powered buses first appeared in Vancouver in the mid-1980s. However, since all units active in the Vancouver system at that time, including 53 CNG units, were passed to Coast Mountain Bus Company in 1999, it can be argued that they do not count as part of the current, post-1999 fleet.
In 2018, the NextRide passenger voice-announcement and display system and vehicle location system was introduced. The system was gradually installed on these units through the year, making them the first complete set of buses to receive it.
