Toronto Transit Commission 8477-8486
Toronto Transit Commission 8477-8486 were Flyer Industries D901 buses built and delivered in 1981. They are part of a 107-bus order placed with Flyer alongside an order for 42 General Motors New Look buses in the fall of 1980. The two orders were valued at $17.9-million.[1] The last 10 buses ordered from Flyer were built for Gray Line sightseeing service.
As these buses were to be used for the Gray Line sightseeing service, these buses received a few different features from the first 97 buses. It was equipped with air conditioning, however it was not used when the buses were operated in regular TTC service. These buses also featured tinted windows, a P/A system, and 40 seats with provision to add 5 more seats for the sightseeing service. The TTC specified passenger seats with thick cushions, and the interior colour scheme consisted of beige and olive.
