Toronto Transit Commission 6130-6204 were Flyer Industries D901 buses built and delivered in 1986. Following the order for 123 D901 buses delivered the year prior, the TTC approved the purchase of 65 more D901 buses toward the end of 1985. In early 1986, this was increased to 75.[1] These were the final D901 buses ordered by the TTC and some of the last produced by Flyer.
The buses were delivered in the "CLRV" livery that was used throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. The interior used the contemporary beige and brown colour scheme with fibreglass seats that had padded inserts. These buses were delivered with power steering and featured a backlit "stop requested" sign. The buses were delivered with rollsigns which, as part of a fleet-wide retrofit in the early 1990s, were replaced by electronic Luminator flip-dot signs.
Beginning in 1998, the majority of the buses in this series underwent their 12-year midlife rebuild. They had their major components and systems overhauled, as well as had repairs made to their structure and body. The buses received a new coat of paint in the TTC's current livery. Padded brown vinyl inserts were replaced with the standard red synthetic wool inserts.
By 2004, the buses had reached their projected 18-year lifespan. The bulk of this series was retired between 2004 and 2007 (along with the 6000-6122 series), and replaced by the various Orion VII orders during that timespan. The last unit, 6133, was retired in September 2007.
When new, these buses were based at Queensway, Arrow Road, and Danforth garages. In their last days, most were based out of Arrow Road and Malvern garages.
