The ZF AV 132, introduced in 1995,[1] is a portal drive axle for low floor buses. The drop centre design allows for a full low floor throughout the vehicle which ZF touts as a benefit to improve passenger flow and safety. The passive non-driving version of the axle is know as the AVN 132 and is commonly found in articulated buses. The AV 132 and AVN 132 are available with disc brakes or drum brakes. The complete axle system also features suspension arms, air springs, shock absorbers as well as trailing rods and Vrods, including brackets.
