The station was originally planned to be replaced with the new Downsview Park GO Station which begins operation on December 30, 2017 since the new TTC Line 1 subway extension also provides a connection with York University. However, this was met with opposition from students and staff at York University, and the local city councillor.<ref>Rieti, John (2017 February 17). The station platform is situated on the west side of the tracks and is accessed only through a walkway between two industrial buildings off of Canarctic Drive, where the York University Shuttle bus stops on the street. This station has no station building but a ticket vending machine is available inside a shelter on the platform near the walkway entrance for ticket purchases. Trains only stop at York University during rush hour periods. Passengers can use the nearby Downsview Park GO Station which opened in late 2017. | |||
