54 Bayview (previously 54 Bayview North) is a base route operated by YRT in Aurora and Newmarket, ON.

Basic

Route 54 operates on Bayview and Main St. Newmarket.

This route has 1 branch:

• 54 Southlake Regional Health Centre - Yonge Street via Wellington.

This route serves the Stone Rd. community and downtown Newmarket. It also serves Southlake Hospital and Newmarket GO Station.

History

Route 54 has been operating on mostly it's same route for a number of years. In September 2006, buses were rerouted from Bayview onto Main St. Newmarket between Water St. and Davis Dr. Before, some trips had an expanded looping that served Main St. between Queen and Davis Dr.

In 2007, the route changed from Prospect Street to Main Street. In 2010 routing changed again. Service to Stone Road had been cancelled and buses travel down Wellington Street West and turns around at Victoria & Church Streets to improve connections to Viva Blue and other Yonge Street routes.

On September 5, 2010, to prevent confusion, the 'North' suffix was removed from route signs.

Route 54 usually operates Eldorado EZ Rider IIs. Due to road conditions in the Newmarket Main Street area, 40 foot vehicles cannot operate on this route.
