History
- June 30, 2013 - Route 26 Maple Local was introduced as part of restructuring of routes along the Jane Street corridor. It replaced routes 4 and 20 in serving the local roads in the Maple community.
- November 3, 2013 - The routing was modified to minimize delays exiting Vaughan Mills, operating via Riverock Gt., Caldari Rd., Locke St., and Creditstone Rd. instead of via Jane St. and Rutherford Rd.
- December 17, 2017 - With the opening of the Line 1 subway extension to Vaughan, route 26 was extended south from Vaughan Mills along Edgeley Blvd. to SmartCentres Place, replacing route 35D. Route 26 was renamed from 'Maple Local' to 'Maple'.
- November 3, 2019 - With the opening of the new SmartCentres Place Bus Terminal at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station, the route now terminates there. Northbound service operates via Apple Mill Road and Edgeley Boulevard.
- September 6, 2020 - All weekend and Holiday service is discontinued due to low ridership.
- January 7, 2024 - Route is modified to provide two-way service north of Major Mackenzie Drive, and the route is extended east via McNaughton Road to serve Maple GO Station. Weekday midday service is also discontinued and the route will only operate during the rush hours.
