York Region Transit 1001-1019
York Region Transit 1001-1019 are New Flyer Industries D40LF buses built and delivered in 2010. This batch is part of the Metrolinx Transit Purchasing Co-operative order for buses for delivery in 2010.
This order, along with other consortium orders, was completed ahead of schedule by New Flyer. As part of the contract, the harmonized sales tax (HST) was included in the price. With the buses being ready before the HST took effect (on July 1, 2010), a lot of paperwork would need to be filed to redeem the HST costs if they were delivered to the agency before July 1st. Therefore, the first units were delivered to the Hamilton Street Railway's Mountain Garage by the 3rd week of June. They were then brought onto Miller Transit's property on July 1st.
These buses have mostly the same features as the previous batch of D40LFs. Some differences include the instructions for the bike racks being written in English and Spanish (instead of French) on a few vehicles, the side destination sign was placed lower, the flatter substance on the stop request tapes, and the interior stickers being the standard white font colour, unlike YRT/Viva's recent fleet number placard introduction to all the other vehicles. They were also the first buses to be allocated to a single division since the order of 311-335.
These buses are normally found on 1 Highway 7, 2 Milliken, 8 Kennedy, 9 9th Line, 14 14th Ave, 16 16th Ave, 18 Bur Oak, 24 Woodbine, 25 Major Mackenzie, 40 Unionville Local, 41 Markham Local, 42 Berczy, 45 Mingay, 80 Elgin Mills, 81 Inspiration, 82 Valleymede, 83/83A Trench, 86 Newkirk-Red Maple, 90/90B Leslie, 91/91A/91B/91E Bayview, 98E Yonge, 99 Yonge, 300 Business Express, 301 Markham Express, 302 Unionville Express, 303 Bur Oak Express, 304 Mount Joy Express, Markham GO Shuttles, Richmond Hill GO Shuttles, and school specials.
Upon entering service, these buses retired 105, 109-110, 112, 117, 203-212, 214-215 and 220-221.
