Western Contra Costa Transit Authority or WestCAT is the public transit service in western Contra Costa County, California that serves the cities of Hercules and Pinole. It is operated under contract by MV Transportation.

History

WestCAT was established in August 1977 as a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement between the County of Contra Costa and the cities of Hercules and Pinole.

  • Only 100 & 111 remain active as of 2016.
  • 101-110 retired in early 2014 and were auctioned off on 3/26/2014.[1] 101-109 were bought by Transit Sales International.[2]
  • 111 was rehabbed and painted into the Lynx scheme in 2014. Its Cummins ISM engine was more than likely replaced with an EPA 2007 ISM or rebuilt and had its standard engine fan replaced with electric fans.
