Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority 3900-3950

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority 3900-3950 were 1997 OBI Orion V (05.505) buses. They originally had Vultron flip-dot destination signs which were replaced with LEDs due to their poor reliability. These buses replaced the 1988 Gillig Phantoms, and were used to expand the smaller bus fleet for routes in Southeast DC. These buses were replaced by the 2012 Orion VII BRTs 3036-3087. 30 buses were later sold to Ride-On to replace the cutaways and continued to operate until 2014 until the arrival of newer buses.
