Lafarge Lake–Douglas is a SkyTrain station in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Station Details

Located adjacent to Lafarge Lake and the Coquitlam/David Lam campus of Douglas College, Lafarge Lake–Douglas provides easy access to the two locations and adjacent low and high density residential areas. Lafarge Lake–Douglas is the terminus station of the Millennium Line.

The station was designed by DIALOG.[1]

Public Art

There are three permanent public art pieces at Lafarge Lake–Douglas. The first is located outside, titled TransLake by Trent Hutton of Bowen Island, BC. The artwork is a giant concrete frog surfacing from the concrete to represent the transformation of a rock quarry to Lafarge Lake, similar to the transformation of a tadpole to a frog.

The second piece is inside the station in the concourse area titled Monohedral Tesselation by Dean Cloutier and Jarami Reid of Vancouver. The artwork is made up of an arrangement of single geometric shapes with no overlaps or gaps. The mosaic is constructed out of British Columbia pine beetle wood and the pieces are laser engraved with images that represent important Coquitlam landmarks, people, and community traditions.

The third is a tile mosaic with the station name on it as part of a series called Branching Out by Bruce Walther and YarOn Stern of Vancouver. There are similar mosaic tiles at each Coquitlam station along the Evergreen Extension.[2]
