History
- June 24, 2007 - Route made accessible with low-floor buses.
- January 3, 2010 - Route operation is transferred from Birchmount to Eglinton Division.
- June 22, 2014 - Due to a system-wide reorganization of route branch designations, branch 70 to Warden Station has been changed to 70C.
- October 22, 2015 - Construction on a new elevator and the repaving of the bus loop at Coxwell Station will result in the bus loop being closed and is scheduled to reopen on December 31, 2016. Service is now interlined with 22 Coxwell at Danforth Avenue.
- May 7, 2017 - After delays from the construction of the new elevator at Coxwell Station, the bus loop reopens.
- March 28, 2021 - This route was transferred to Birchmount upon the opening of the brand new McNicoll Division.
- October 10, 2021 - Branch 70B to Eglinton Square is eliminated. At all times, branch 70A will operate on O'Connor Drive north of St Clair Avenue East.
- June 18, 2023 - Branch 70C to Warden Station is temporarily suspended with the route extension of 8 Broadview. During this time, service on branch 70A to Eglinton will supplement service.
- November 19, 2023 - Branch 70C to Warden Station is permanently cancelled and replaced with the extended route 8 Broadview.
- March 31, 2024 - Branch 70A to Eglinton is redesignated as 70.
Overnight Service
Overnight service is provided by 322 Coxwell on Coxwell Avenue between Danforth Avenue and Cosburn Avenue. The rest of the route does not have overnight service, however, this route operates until 1:00 AM every day.
