Sherbourne Station is a rapid transit station operated by the Toronto Transit Commission in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 633 Sherbourne Street at the northeast corner of Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street.
Sherbourne Station opened with the original Bloor-Danforth subway line on February 26, 1966.
The station is comprised of three levels: street entrance level, and underground concourse level, and subway platform level.
The main entrance is accessed by doors which open onto the east side of Sherbourne Street just south of the intersection of Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street. A second automatic entrance is located one block east of Sherbourne Street at the northern end of Glen Road just south of Bloor Street East. Inside the main entrance, there are stairs and escalators that lead down to the collector's booth and fare gates in the underground concourse level. The Glen Road automatic entrance has stairs that lead directly down to platform level beyond the fare-paid line. Situated near the downtown core, this station has no bus terminal so passengers who wish to connect to the 75 Sherbourne bus and 300 Bloor-Danforth night bus must do so at the bus stops at the intersection of Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street.
Beyond the fare-paid line in the underground concourse level, stairs and escalators provide access to the eastbound and westbound subway platforms. The subway platforms are of the typical Bloor-Danforth style, with gray-coloured wall tiles and a green trim.
At Bloor-Yonge Station, the subway platforms for the Bloor-Danforth line are located on the lowest level—underneath the tracks and platforms for the Line 1 subway. Therefore, the stretch of track between Sherbourne and Bloor-Yonge stations had to be bored rather than the conventional cut and cover method, which was used to construct a majority of the tunnels along the Bloor-Danforth subway line.
As part of the TTC's Easier Access Program, construction on new elevators and other various station improvements for Sherbourne Station was scheduled to begin in early 2019. Work to be done at the station include the addition of new elevators and the installation of automatic sliding entrance doors to make the station accessible, improved wayfinding and signage, and new CCTV cameras. Scheduled for completion in 2021, work has yet to be started on this project.
