History
Lansdowne Station opened to the public with the original segment of the Bloor-Danforth subway on February 26, 1966.
Station description
There are three entrances at Lansdowne Station: the two main entrance buildings on the west and east sides of Lansdowne Avenue at Wade Avenue, and an automatic entrance two blocks east on the west side of Emerson Avenue. The station does not have a bus terminal. Instead, customers can connect to the 47 Lansdowne bus using the stops located just outside the entrances on the west and east sides of Lansdowne Avenue. Inside the main entrance, there are stairs that lead down to an underground concourse where the collector's booth and fare gates are located. At the Emerson Avenue automatic entrance, stairs lead directly to platform level. Connection to the 300 Bloor-Danforth night bus can be made at the stops just south of the station at the intersection of Lansdowne Avenue and Bloor Street West.
Beyond the fare-paid line in the underground concourse, there are stairs and escalators that lead down to the side subway platforms. The subway platforms at Lansdowne Station are of the typical Bloor-Danforth style featuring yellow wall tiles and a blue trim.
Easier Access Project
As part of the TTC's Easier Access Program, construction began during in June 2019 to make Lansdowne Station accessible with the expected completion date to be at the end of 2021.[1]
