Toronto Transit Commission 8520-8561 were GMDD T6H-5307N "New Look" buses built in 1981.
History
Order
The 42 General Motors New Look buses were ordered in the fall of 1980 alongside 107 D901 buses from Flyer Industries. The two orders were valued at $17.9-million.[1] These buses were the first New Looks to be delivered in the livery adapted from the newly delivered CLRV streetcars. The interior colour scheme remained cream and brown, and the TTC specified fibreglass seats with padded inserts for this order.
Rebuild
As part of a fleet-wide retrofit, the buses had their rollsigns replaced with Luminator Matrix:MAX flip-dot signs in the early 1990s.
All units received an 18-year rebuild as part of the Heavy Rebuild Program between 1997 and 2000. The majority were renumbered into the 2000-2110 series in the order they were rebuilt. Two were renumbered in the 2700-series.
