Toronto Transit Commission 4150-4199

Toronto Transit Commission 4150-4199 were 1940 CC&F PCC A-2 class air-electric streetcars, built new for the TTC. Their body shells were built by St. Louis Car Company in the US, and finished by CC&F in Montreal. This group followed the initial order of A1-class cars 4000-4139 two years earlier (numbers 4140-4149 were skipped).

Most of this series of air-electric PCC's were retired in the mid-late 1960's with the opening of the new Bloor-Danforth subway line in 1966 and its subsequent extensions in 1968. The last active car of the A-2 series (and the last active air-electric PCC on the roster), car 4199, was retired on September 28th 1972. Many of the retired cars were part of a group sold to Alexandria, Egypt in the 1960's, and others were eventually scrapped.

This number series was eventually reused for the new TTC CLRV streetcars built in the early 1980's.
