Tecumseh Transit is the transit provider for Tecumseh Ontario, a suburban town outside of Windsor Ontario. Operations is contracted out to First Student Canada. One bus is used on one route that covers several areas of the town from 6AM to 6PM. Transfers can also be made with Transit Windsor at Tecumseh Mall, although the full fare must be paid. Ridership in 2010 was 9209 and for 2011 it was 22,800. Ridership for 2015 was 28,846. Also of note, one bus stop(#4A) is in the boundaries of Lakeshore, the result of a 6 month trial, which is now permanent.

History

Back in 1986, Tecumseh had transit service from January to June of that year. As a 6 month trial, it had failed due to low ridership. The bus used was ex-GO Transit #1505, then owned and operated by Chatham Coach Lines.

Request for proposals for a provider of bus service were made October 29, 2009. First Student Canada was chosen to run the service. On Tuesday, November 22, the proposal to launch the bus service in the town was approved, and service commenced on December 21, 2009. Tecumseh Seniors Transit's 30ft Blue Bird bus was used for the service until the bus ordered specifically for Tecumseh transit was delivered and in service. Service was free from December 21, 2009 to January 31, 2010 as a promotion until the fares go into effect. After the extention to Tecumseh Mall, Tecumseh Transit's ridership increased from around 500 riders a month to around 1500 riders.
