History

  • January 2, 1990 - Route separated from route 750 as 751 Pontiac/Summit Place-North Hill Farms. From Saginaw and Huron Streets, the route operates via Elizabeth Lake Road to Summit Place Mall and the Oakland County Service Center, then primarily services Telegraph Road between County Center Drive and Dixie Highway and Columbia Street between Fairmount Street and Baldwin Road.
  • September 3, 1991 - Route extended north to the Baldwin Medical Center at Baldwin and Newport Street following the discontinuation of route 753.
  • June 15, 1992 - Route becomes interlined with route 753 following its reintroduction at the Baldwin Medical Center and presumably also at Saginaw and Huron. At this time, this route is operated almost solely with Gillig Phantoms.
  • December 11, 1995 - Service between 9 AM and 3 PM on weekdays is eliminated, replaced by a new dial-a-ride service that was launched on November 20 of that year.
  • June 12, 2000 - Route renamed 752 Pontiac/North Hill Farms and rerouted via Huron Street, replacing route 750. Route is also cut back from Baldwin Medical Center to Columbia and Baldwin. Midday service is restored as well.
  • May 1, 2010 - Service to Summit Place Mall eliminated due to it's 2009 closure and subsequent loss of all of it's anchor stores. Route is also rerouted back onto Elizabeth Lake Road.
  • October 5, 2020 - Route renamed 790 Pontiac Crosstown and extended to Oakland University (in lieu of route 796) via downtown Auburn Hills and the Amazon warehouse at the former Pontiac Silverdome site. Bi-directional full-route Sunday service is also introduced. Route is reclassified from a Community Route.
  • October 7, 2020 - Stops along Michigan Avenue and Sanford Street are relocated to Pike Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard, respectively, due to problems making the turn at the Michigan and Sanford intersection.
  • June 26, 2023 - Routing is changed in the area of Elizabeth Lake and Telegraph Roads to serve Summit Drive.
