Route Details
This route services Maple Road between Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital and Orchard Lake Road, Orchard Lake Road between Maple Road and Northwestern Highway, Northwestern Highway between Orchard Lake Road and 12 Mile Road, 12 Mile Road between Franklin Road and Lahser Road, Lahser Road between 12 Mile Road and 11 Mile Road, 11 Mile Road between Lahser Road and Central Park Boulevard, Central Park Boulevard between 11 Mile Road and Civic Center Drive, Civic Center Drive between Central Park Boulevard and Evergeeen Road, Evergeeen Road between Civic Center Drive and M-10, M-10 between Evergreen Road and 8 Mile Road, (partly on the service drives and partly on the freeway itself), 8 Mile Road between Northwestern Highway and Woodward Avenue and Woodward Avenue between 8 Mile Road and the State Fair Transit Center. Limited-stop service is provided along 8 Mile Road.
History
- December 11, 1995 - Route introduced.
- June 17, 1996 - Route is extended to Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital after West Bloomfield opts back into SMART.
- January 5, 2015 - Service along Telegraph Road and Northwestern Highway between 12 Mile Road and Lahser Road is rerouted to use 12 Mile Road and Lahser Road.
- September 5, 2017 - The Northland Center Hub closes, necessitating the elimination of the route south of JL Hudson Drive.
- March 23, 2020 - Route extended back south to Northland Drive.
- September 6, 2021 - Route replaces routes 415 and 420 between Northland and the State Fair Transit Center. Evening service is also introduced.
