Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation 3801-3840 are 2018 bio-diesel Gillig BRT (G27D102N4) buses. In November 2017, SMART was able to negotiate with Gillig for the delivery of 35 fixed-route buses in 2018, 5 fixed-route buses in 2019 and 35 FAST buses in 2019. Along the line, this order was changed to 37 fixed-route buses and 3 FAST buses in 2018, 38 fixed-route buses in 2019, and 38 FAST buses in 2020.

This was the first Gillig order by SMART to be built entirely at Gillig's Livermore, California plant. These buses were originally destined for placement into service in November 2018, but numerous manufacturer issues, along with additional issues at Clever Devices, delayed their entry into service until January 2019.

They will be used to retire remaining buses from the 22301-series Gillig Low Floor order, which had aged significantly since they were first delivered in the early 2000's.

These buses are nearly identical in appearance to the two previous diesel BRT orders, though there are some exterior differences: the fleet number on the rear is placed in a vertical stack rather than horizontally, there is no SMART logo on the bottom half of the rear (most likely to accommodate rear-end advertisements), and these buses were delivered with the top half rear white SMART logo decal and serif "SMART" text decals on the rearmost passenger windows that were rolled out between April and June 2018 as add-on decals to all previous BRT orders, along with the 6001-series New Flyer Industries D40LF order, although the white logo decal is placed centered rather than off to the top-right corner as on the add-ons.
