Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District 2225-2238

Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District 2225-2238 are 2002 model New Flyer D40LFC buses built in 2003. They were built as diesel powered buses, that were intended to be converted to CNG powered buses. They were delivered with the shroud on the roof for the CNG tanks and looked identical to C40LF buses, while still being diesel powered. Santa Cruz Metro did not have the infrastructure and CNG fueling station in place when the buses were ordered. They were originally powered by Detroit Diesel Series 50 EGR engines and were repowered, upon being converted to CNG power.
