The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority or VTA is a transit operator in the San Jose and Santa Clara County, California.

History

VTA was originally named the Santa Clara County Transit District (SCCTD). Before the name change to VTA, the agency name became known as Transportation Agency or TA from late 1993 up to 1995.[1] On January 1, 1995, SCCTD was merged with Congestion Management and remained SCCTD for about a year. At the same time (1995), the common use name changed to VTA. The official name change was delayed due to Sacramento politics.[2]
