Santa Clara County Transit District 682-733 were 1978 Gillig Gillig-Neoplan 35' (PT477-35-96) buses. They were equipped with wheelchair lifts. An order of 50 Gillig-Neoplan buses scheduled for 1979 was cancelled. They retired from 1985 to 1/1/1987 due to structural and electrical problems.

Details

  • Many units (from this series and from the low 600 series) were bought by private owners and operators.
    • Some units were spotted for sale in a junk yard in Morgan Hill, CA circa 1998, but they were destroyed when the yard burned down.
    • 1 unit (converted to diesel) was bought by a private owner and converted into an RV conversion. It was spotted in Reno, NV on 8/27/2015.[1]
    • 1 unit was bought by a private owner to convert into a party bus. It was listed on Craigslist in Chino, CA in June 2017.[2]
    • 1 unit was bought by a private owner and converted into an RV conversion in 1993. It was eventually listed for sale in Stone Mountain, GA.[3] It was also spotted for sale circa 2006 in Lemitar, NM.[4]
    • 1 unit (converted to diesel) was bought by a private owner and converted into an RV conversion. It was listed for sale circa 2011.[5]
    • 1 unit (converted to diesel) was bought by a private owner and converted into an RV conversion. It was listed for sale in Eagle Point, OR in November 2018, but may have been listed in previous years.[6]
    • 1 unit was bought by EntireControl and later sold to a private owner to convert into a communication center. (Lic. Plate: 2FTR957). It was for sale in Selma, OR in 2013.[7][8]
    • 1 unit (converted to diesel) was bought by a private owner in Seguin, TX and converted into an RV conversion. It was listed for sale circa 2019.[9]
    • 1 unit was bought by a private owner in New York. It was driven from Sacramento to its destination.[10]
