Rabbit Transit
Rabbit Transit is an operating subsidiary of the Central Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, previously the York Adams Transportation Authority, and operates the public transit system for the city of York and surrounding York County, Pennsylvania. Service in the York area was previously serviced by the York Bus Company, from 1931 until 1977.
Rabbit Express is an additional subsidiary of CPTA, and operates three unique commuter express routes, with two routes serving Harrisburg; one from the City of York and one from the Borough of Gettysburg, both connecting with Harrisburg's Capital Area Transit; and one from the City of York to Maryland, connecting with MTA Maryland rail service, serving Baltimore, Maryland.
Other subsidiaries include, Freedom Transit, which operates the public transit and visitor shuttle services of the Borough of Gettysburg, PA; and Rabbit Transit shared-ride programs in Cumberland, Northumberland, Franklin and Columbia counties.
On July 1, 2016, Union, Snyder, and Montour counties join the authority with their shared-ride programs.
In February of 2018, Rabbit Transit is awarded a management contract for operation of the Capital Area Transit system.
In May of 2019, Rabbit Transit began the rebranding of their Freedom Transit subsidiary to Rabbit Transit Blue.
