Princess Tours 7080-7083
Princess Tours 7080-7083 are Pullman-Standard cars. They were originally delivered to Southern Pacific Railroad as Gallery-type bilevel commuter cars.
They were substantially rebuilt by Tilamook Railcar Repair in 1988, by removing the upper level of the car, and installing a full second level with large glass dome windows. They are referred to as Ultra Dome Series I cars, and are the forerunners of the modern Ultra Dome cars manufactured by Colorado Railcar.
The cars are hauled by Alaska Railroad locomotives with the purpose of transporting cruise guests from ports in Seward/Whittier to inland destinations, such as Anchorage and Denali National Park. They are designed to operate in pairs, with one end of each containing a door on the upper level to allow travel between cars. 7080 and 7082 are classified as "B" cars, and contain seating for 88 on the upper level, and a kitchen and seating for 32 on the lower level. 7081 and 7083 are classified as "C" cars, and contain seating for 84 on the upper level, with an observation deck and seating for 32 on the lower level. "C" cars are also equipped with lifts to the upper level.
