The Nova Bus LFS Artic is an articulated version of the Nova Bus LFS and is made for high ridership routes or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems. The LFS Artic had its formal unveiling at the 2007 CUTA Trans-Expo.

Background

The first prototype was built using the front section of a first generation LFS and the rear portion of a second generation Chicago Transit Authority LFS demonstration unit. A second, more refined prototype was built in 2005 and operated in service with the Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) as well as the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL). Both prototypes had the same offside engine placement as the 40 foot LFS. Production models have the engine at the center of the rear.

In 2010, Connecticut Transit placed an order for a batch of hybrid LFS Artic buses, the first of this model configuration. Currently, Nova has not designated the hybrid LFS Artic as its own model like they did with the 40 foot Nova Bus LFS HEV. Connecticut received their first bus in late 2011. The Société de transport de l'Outaouais became the first Canadian operator for the LFS Artic HEV after receiving a pilot bus at the beginning of 2016. Réseau de transport de la Capitale has also received the same hybrid articulated model, and will enter service late August.
