Niagara Region Transit provides connections between the twelve different municipalities of the Niagara Region in the Province of Ontario.

History

Regional council approved a three year pilot project on June 23, 2010. They granted money for new buses and operating costs to the three major cities' transit systems, Niagara Falls Transit, St. Catharines Transit, and Welland Transit.[1] Regional transit in the Niagara Region has been discussed for many years, but finally became a reality on September 12, 2011. After the pilot phase, Regional council voted to continue the initiative in 2014.

Effective September 6, 2016, Niagara Region Transit amended its service between St. Catharines and Niagara Falls by adding a new route. The new route (40/45) took over some service destinations from route 50/55, and modified service hours for both lines.
