The Motor Coach Industries D45 CRTe LE CHARGE, part of MCI's next-generation D-Series, is a battery-electric commuter coach available in Canada and the United States. The coach features a low entry section near the middle to facilitate boarding of mobility devices. This low floor section can also be accessed via a staircase to the high floor section. Production of the D45 CRTe LE is expected to begin in 2020, along with the J4500e.[1]
The coach features a high-torque 4,500 Nm electric drive from Siemens and 400 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) batteries from XALT. The D45 CRTe LE can be fully charged with a high power plug-in charger in under three hours. It has an estimated range of 170 miles and a top speed of 72 miles per hour.[1]
