The Motor Coach Industries D4500CT features a redesigned front incorporating headlights from the G-Series as well as an option for bonded type passenger windows. Fluted stainless steel sides are also an option.
For coaches meeting the EPA 2007 standards, the buses sport a redesigned rear end incorporating changes to the engine cooling system. Coaches meeting the EPA 2010 standards are equipped with a selective catalytic reduction system with a 15 gallon diesel exhaust fluid tank. They will use the Cummins ISL9 and ISX11.9 engines, and as of July 2010, the Detroit Diesel DD13 is under evaluation.[1] All engines will be available with the Allison transmission, followed by the ZF transmission in 2011.[1] A new lighte and simpler engine cooling system will be used and is available before the 2010-compliant coaches are available. D4500CTH
A diesel electric hybrid version of this coach called the D4500CTH has started production in 2007. Houston METRO was the launch customer.
