Metrolink 800 was a 1985 EMD F40PHR locomotive. It was originally delivered to Amtrak.

In the early 1990s, Metrolink purchased four ex-Amtrak F40PH locomotives, and transported them to MPI's facilities with the intention of repowering and rebuilding them for commuter service. Only one unit (396, renumbered to 800) was completed; the remainder were scrapped.
