Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority 9495 is a 2007 NABI 65-BRT CNG (65B.01) bus. It remains a one-off as it is currently the only 65-BRT known to be in existence. California state laws prohibit vehicles over 60 feet, so 9495 ran under a special permit. The agency did not order anymore 65-BRT buses likely due to the permit needed to run the buses.
The bus was commissioned to address overcrowding on the Metro Orange Line. NABI offered to modify one bus in the 2006-2007 60-BRT order by adding five feet to the front section. This allowed for a 15.7 percent gain in seating capacity.[1] At the time of 9495's introduction, it sported features that were different from the other NABI BRT models from Metro. The bus had tinted flush mounted passenger windows and front wheel coverings. Tinted flush mounted windows would later be specified on the 2008 NABI 42-BRT order.
