History
East Gwillimbury GO Station opened November 1, 2004 as a relief station to Newmarket GO Station which had no expansion capability, no off-street bus facilities and a growing population. Other growing communities in its catchment area include Holland Landing, Sharon, Mount Albert and Keswick. The terminal was built with a large bus loop to be used as a major transit hub once Newmarket expands northwards to the station.
