From Ontario Tech University/Durham College North Campus terminal, branch 901A operates east on Commencement Drive, south on Simcoe Street, west on Brock Street, south on Centre Street, east on Fairbanks Street, south on Simcoe Street, west on Lakeview Park Avenue, north on Ritson Road, west on Valley Drive, west on Phillip Murray Avenue, north on Cedar Street, north on Wentworth Street, north on Simcoe Street, and west on Commencement Drive to North Campus terminal. On weekends, service is extended to Windfields Farm Drive as branch 901, operating from North Campus terminal via east on Commencement Drive, north on Simcoe Street, and west on Windfields Farm Drive, looping at the roundabout west of Simcoe Street, then south on Simcoe Street and west on Commencement Drive to North Campus terminal. Branch 901C trips follow the same routing from North Campus terminal to Centre Street and Gibb Street, then turn west on Gibb Street to Oshawa Centre; northbound trips 901/901B trips from Oshawa Centre operate east on Gibb Street, south on Centre Street and east on Fairbanks Street to Simcoe Street, then follow the northbound routing to North Campus terminal or Windfields Farm Drive.

History

2017 - Initially proposed as a route operating from Durham College North Campus Terminal to Oshawa GO Station in 2017, the route was part of the annual Public Information Centres held by DRT to plan further enhancements to the network.
2019 - Announced in the Durham 2020 budget that the route was scheduled to begin operation in December 2020. Proposed routing was revised to be nearly identical to route 401 Simcoe. Funding for the route, additional PULSE BRT vehicles and studies required for rapid transit implementation was secured through the Investing in Canadian Infrastructure Program (ICIP) as one of the 14 priority projects to advance public transit service across the region.
September 28, 2020 - Route begins service as PULSE 901 Simcoe, replacing former route 401.
January 4, 2021 - Branch 901B to Ritson Road and Wentworth Street discontinued; replaced by a revised 901B branch via Gibb Street to Oshawa Centre.
September 7, 2021 - Branch 901C to Downtown Oshawa discontinued; trips extended to Oshawa Centre as branch 901B. Overnight service introduced on the corridor as route N2; route 901 schedule adjusted to match with the new 24-hour service.
circa September 2021 - Route names eliminated; now solely referred to as route PULSE 901.
January 10, 2022 - Weekday frequency temporarily reduced to every 30 minutes per branch (15 minutes combined north of Gibb Street).
April 4, 2022 - Weekday and Saturday evening service added on 901B branch until 22:00.
June 20, 2022 - All branches extended north to Simcoe Street and Windfields Farm Drive. Weekday frequency improved to every 10 minutes north of Gibb Street.
January 2, 2023 - Frequency reduction on weekdays; departures every 30 minutes from Oshawa Centre, Lakeview Park, and Windfields Farm, with additional trips between Downtown Oshawa and North Campus.
June 19, 2023 - All trips extended north to Windfields Farm Drive. Branch letters reorganized; southbound trips to Lakeview Park renumbered to branch 901A, southbound trips to Oshawa Centre renumbered to branch 901C, northbound trips to Windfields Farm Drive as branch 901.
September 5, 2023 - Branch 901C improved to every 15 minutes during weekday daytimes.
January 2, 2024 - Weekday service cut back from Windfields Drive to North Campus terminal as branch 901B. Frequency adjusted to every 20 minutes per branch (10 minutes combined).
