Durham Region Transit route 409 is a route that operates in Oshawa and Whitby, Ontario, Canada.
Route details
Route 409 serves eastern Whitby and northwestern Oshawa, primarily along Garrard Road.
From Oshawa Centre, branch 409 trips operate west on Gibb Street, west on Burns Street, north on Kendalwood Road, north on Garrard Road, east on Conlin Road, north on Simcoe Street, and west on Windfields Farm Drive, looping at the roundabout west of Simcoe Street. Branch 409C buses follow the route to Kendalwood Road and Nichol Avenue, then turn west on Nichol Avenue, north on Glen Hill Drive, and east on Dundas Street to Kendalwood Road, resuming the regular routing to Windfields Farm. Buses in the opposite direction follow the reverse routing. Branch 409A operates a single southbound trip, diverting from Garrard Road east on Rossland Road and south on Stevenson Road to Gibb Street.

History
- September 4, 2017 - Route introduced as 409 Garrard/Stevenson, created from a merger of former routes 408 and 409. Service operates northbound on Garrard and southbound on Stevenson.
- March 23, 2020 - Frequency reduced to "enhanced Saturday service levels" following the COVID-19 pandemic.
- June 8, 2020 - Frequency further reduced to Sunday service levels.
- September 2020 - Route discontinued.
- September 6, 2022 - Route reintroduced, operating every 30 minutes during weekday daytime via Garrard Road northbound and Stevenson Road southbound.
- June 19, 2023 - Select midday trips diverted to serve Glen Hill Drive and Nichol Avenue as branch 409C, to replace service provided by discontinued route 392.
- January 2, 2024 - Route extended north to Windfields Farm Drive and Simcoe Street via Conlin Road. Service restructured to operate two-way on Garrard Road. Weekend service introduced, replacing temporary route 499.
