Durham Region Transit 8460-8470
Durham Region Transit 8460-8470 are New Flyer D40LF buses built in 2009 and delivered new to DRT November 2009 to February 2010. This batch is part of the Metrolinx Transit Purchasing Co-operative order for buses for delivery in 2009.
These buses have seating for 35 passengers or 28 passengers and two wheelchairs. The seats are in charcoal with yellow grab handles and charcoal backs. The inserts are in Holdsworth Fabrics' YSW24954 moquette. The wheelchair ramp is located at the front door. The rear door uses Vapor vTouch touch bars for passenger operation. Heating, cooling and ventilation are provided by a rear-mounted Thermo King T11 unit, and almost all and passenger windows are of the tip-in transom design. The window after the front door and the last window on the driver's side are of the sliding design. Those windows open a small distance to allow increased airflow throughout the bus if the air conditioning fails. The buses have GFI Cents A Bill fare boxes. Sportworks bike racks were later added after delivery two to three weeks into February.
This batch has some major differences than 8446-8459. Seating on 8460-8470 is reduced to allow more standing room. The wheelchair area on the driver's side is composed of three perimeter seats instead of two and a pair of transverse seats. The wheelchair area is followed by two rows of single transverse seats instead of three pairs. This batch also features LED interior lighting and different seat colours from the previous batches.
