Durham Region Transit 8153-8160 were Nova Bus LFS buses built in 2002 and acquired by DRT in 2006. They were originally delivered new to Oshawa Transit Commission (OTC) as 153-160.

The buses have seating for 38 passengers or 32 passengers and two wheelchairs. Seat frames are in blue and seat inserts are in Holdsworth Fabrics's blue crescents moquette. These buses have a wide front door with a wheelchair ramp and a narrow rear door that uses an optic sensor for operation by passengers. Heating, cooling and ventilation are provided by a roof-mounted Carrier unit. Passenger windows are of the tip-in transom design.

Before DRT, the buses wore the blue and yellow OTC livery. Shortly after the merger, they received the DRT livery. In November 2009, these buses received Sportworks bike racks.

8159 was the first unit in the series to be retired in 2016, the rest of the series retired in February 2018.

Refurbishment

Following a competitive bidding process, Eastway Refurbishing was awarded the contract to refurbish these buses. From 2012 to the end of 2015, buses 8153 to 8156 and 8160 were refurbished with one bus completed approximately each year. The remaining buses were not done as they would be close to retirement by 2016. Instead it was decided to move onto the 2006 D40LF buses.

The buses received the current DRT livery. Inside, the driver's side wheelchair area was rearranged for the wheelchair to face the rear as on the New Flyers. Seat inserts were redone in Holdsworth #YSW24954 moquette as used on the New Flyers and recent refurbishments, but the bottom inserts on the facing pairs are in black vinyl. The black vinyl inserts are easier to clean and more durable than the wool when passengers rest their feet on these seats. The buses also received an EMP MiniHybrid engine cooling system retrofit. Beginning in 2015 all buses received LED headlights.
