The Cummins M11 is a six cylinder, 10.6 litre diesel engine introduced in 1994. It was built off of the previous L10 engine (same 4.921" cylinder bore, but a longer 5.787" piston stroke compared to the L10's 5.354" stroke).
The Cummins M11 was an inline six cylinder, 10.6 litre diesel engine. It was introduced in 1994 and replaced the Cummins L10. The M11 was used in transit buses as well as motorcoaches.

In 1996, Cummins made changes to the engine and added their CELECT Plus electronic control system to improve fuel efficiency, performance, and reliability. This was called the M11 Plus or M11E. The M11 Plus meets the 1998 CARB and EPA emissions standard of 4.0 g/bhp-hr of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and 0.05 g/bhp-hr of particulates by using a catalyst.

Cummins updated the engine in 1999 with new accessories and electronics under their Interact System. The M11 became known as the Cummins ISM.

The M11 Plus was succeeded in 1999 by the Cummins ISM, which itself was succeeded by the ISX11.9, released on July 20, 2010.
