Coast Mountain Bus Company 3283–3299, 3301–3308 were a set of 25 New Flyer Industries C40LF units built in 1998.
In their original configurations, these units suffered from cooling issues and multiple units experienced engine fires as a result. In 2001, 3288, 3292, 3302, 3306–3308 were retrofitted with new Cummins Westport C Gas Plus engines. In 2005, 3290 was retrofitted with a new Allison B400R 5-speed transmission with 3rd generation controller. Beginning in April 2009, the remaining 19 underwent conversion to diesel power. The CNG tanks were removed, diesel tanks installed in the traditional location, and the powertrains changed from Detroit Diesel Series 50G 275 horsepower engines and Voith D863.3 3-speed transmissions to Detroit Diesel Series 50 EGRs and Allison B400R 5-speed transmissions with 4th generation controllers. 3290 did not receive a new B400R, and retained its older transmission instead. The last conversion was completed by autumn 2009.
In 2009, passenger voice-announcement and display systems by INIT were introduced. Compass Card readers were gradually installed starting in late 2012 and through 2013.
These units formerly operated under BC Transit with Vancouver Regional Transit System with the same numbers until April 1999, when all Greater Vancouver operations split off into TransLink.
