The Central New York Regional Transportation Authority is a multi-county public transit provider for the City of Syracuse, and Onondaga, Oswego, Oneida and Cayuga Counties in New York State. It operates four distinct subsidiaries under the "Centro Bus" banner; Centro of Onondaga, Centro of Oswego, Centro of Cayuga, and Centro of Oneida.
History
Centro (an operating subsidiary of the Central New York Regional Transportation Authority) has operated public transportation service in the New York cities of Syracuse (Onondaga County) and Oswego (Oswego County) since 1972 and in the city of Auburn (Cayuga County) since 1973. Centro took over operation of two transit agencies in Oneida County; the Utica Transit Authority and VIP Transportation in Rome in 2005. Additionally, Centro acquired line-run operations from Onondaga Coach Corporation (Syracuse to Auburn line run), and Syracuse & Oswego Coach Lines (Syracuse to Fulton and Oswego and Syracuse to Central Square) in 1993.
