Barrie Transit provides public transit service to the City of Barrie, Ontario. The Barrie Bus Terminal, located downtown at the intersection of Maple Street and Simcoe Street, is where most routes connect and where most routes interline evenings and Sundays. The terminal also provides connections to out-of-town coach agencies, including GO Transit, Greyhound Canada, and Ontario Northland.

Recent history

As of July 1, 2015, MVT Canadian Bus held the 20-year contract to operate and maintain Barrie Transit. Prior to that, First Transit held the contract and operated out of their own facility. MVT Canada now operates out of a city-owned facility that was formerly a factory.

Fares

Transfers can be requested from the Transit Operator when boarding the bus & can only be used by the person to whom it was issued. A Barrie Transit transfer allows you 75 minutes free travel, in any direction, on any route. You can even make short trips on only one fare as long as you are back on the return bus before the time on your transfer expires. If you’re unsure of the expiry time, please ask your Transit Operator.
